One of the most popular, accessible resources of Longfellow House today is the ornamental Colonial Revival garden. Open year-round from dawn to dusk, it is a unique resource for the community as well as a living monument to the women who commissioned, designed, and helped to revive it.
A garden requires ongoing maintenance, including watering and weeding, occasional replanting, and . Having raised most of the money to rebuild the garden and pergola, the Friends also helps to fund the garden maintenance through our Ackerly Garden Maintenance Fund. If you wish to join in that effort, please hit the button below and donate whatever amount you choose.
If you would prefer to donate to the Friends’ general funds, which pay for all the other things we support—the poetry readings, musical concerts, and historic lectures; the research fellowships and publications; conservation projects—please donate through the button below.
Of course you are welcome to donate in both ways! Through generous contributions from supporters like you, the Friends can continue to make Longfellow House–Washington’s Headquarters a resource for our community and our nation. Thank you.
